Starbreed Aether Guide
Protagonist forms and personal stats
Who Aether is
Aether is the Starbreed protagonist—the pilot at the center of every rail stage and hub conversation. You begin in male form with English VO, and you can unlock Female Aether once Resolve reaches about 50. Forms can be swapped afterward. This guide covers mechanical identity and spoiler-safe expectations for scene volume differences.
Resolve and Assertion (quick sheet)
| Stat | Combat effect | Appeal lean |
|---|---|---|
| Assertion | Boost / thrust recharge up | Masculine |
| Resolve | Max HP / Will up | Feminine |
Full essay: Resolve and Assertion. Stats live under the Aether tab—community confusion usually comes from hunting them as items.
Female Aether unlock path
- Play stages and invest in Resolve.
- Hit ~50 Resolve.
- Use the form swap interface (added during demo-era development and shipped forward).
- Optionally keep raising Resolve for tankiness or pivot into Assertion for mobility.
Developer commentary has described Female Aether as more “side content” with fewer scenes than Male Aether. Enter that path for agency and presentation, not for a promise of equal gallery size.
Building Aether for bosses
Learning phase: Hybrid Resolve to forgive mistakes while you study Controls.
Speed phase: Assertion for boost uptime on chip hunts (Data Chips).
Finale phase: Rebalance after EX passives land (Impregnation Trials).
Pair with weapons from Credits Shop and shells from Party Comps. Aether stats never replace ally actives—see Abilities.
Affinity still matters
Aether’s appeal stats influence presentation leanings; they do not max Lana or Pix for you. Keep Affinity and Roster in the loop.
Voice and languages
Male and Female Aether both have credited English performers. UI languages include English, Korean, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. The game remains single-player 18+ content from RegulusNSFW / Mango Party.

Identity play without optimization guilt
Some pilots will live in Male Aether for the denser romance volume; others will swap to Female Aether for presentation and still clear Finale. Both are valid. The wrong approach is ignoring Resolve/Assertion entirely while blaming allies for deaths that were really empty boost gauges or paper HP pools.
Spend one hub visit each session on the Aether tab. Ten seconds of stewardship beats a lost boss attempt. Sync form choices with ending goals on Endings only after you have a clear save backup.
Training drills
Fly an early stage using only brake and rolls for one minute, then only boost weaves for one minute. You will feel whether Assertion investment is actually paying rent. If brake-only feels safer than boost-only, your recharge plan is lying to you—fix the stats or the habit.
Extra note for aether
Re-check sibling links in this category before your next launch, and confirm Credits or Affinity goals still match your save after the latest shop visit.
Hub stewardship checklist
Each hub visit, open the Aether tab before the shop. Confirm Resolve, Assertion, and form. If Female Aether is unlocked but you swapped back for a scene route, note that intentionally so you do not blame “missing content” later. Sync expectations with Affinity partners who may react to presentation leans without replacing their own meters.
When a boss demands constant lane changes, raise Assertion before buying another novelty gun. When a stage punishes greed, raise Resolve before rage-rerolling allies. The cheapest upgrade is often the protagonist stats you ignored.
